Garlic Jo's History. Garlic has been known about and used since the beginning of time. Evidence shows garlic was used by the Babylonians and Egyptian pyramid workers as far back as 5000 years ago and documented in use by the Chinese as far back as 2000 years. Science shows that Garlic has been known to reduce fevers, used as cold remedy and can also be used as a skin protector. Studies have shown that Garlic can aid in the prevention of cancer, decrease the signs of aging, improve blood circulation, reduce anemia along with preventing the growth of and even killing bacteria.
In 1993, Jo himself decided to create a place where families could come and enjoy the great flavors that garlic has to offer along with keeping the family healthy at that same time. He wanted to incorporate Garlic in as many dishes as possilbe ranging from Japanese to American all the way to Italian. A "fusion style" resturant is the result of his ideas. He also wanted his guests to enjoy a family style atmosphere, a place where you can come and relax and reminisce with your family and freinds while eating fresh quality and healthy food.
It all began in Motomachi Yokohama, Japan where the first Garlic Jo's orginated. Since then, Jo has opened his 18th restaurant in Japan and plans to carry the idea of Garlic Jo's across America for many years to come. Stay tuned!
